How to Use Coupons at Target
Ever wonder where the Bullseye came from? In 1960, The Dayton Company wanted to introduce a “mass market discount store that caters to value oriented shoppers seeking a higher quality experience”. The, now famous, Bullseye logo was chosen because “as a marksmen’s goal is to hit the center bullseye, the new store would do much the same in terms of retail goods, services, commitment to the community, price, value and overall experience”.
1.Target Coupons
Target Coupon Policy allows you to stack a manufacturer coupon with a Target Store Coupon. You can get Target Store Coupons from the following:
- Target Mailers
- Sunday Coupon Inserts
- Target Mobile Coupons
- Target Circle (formally Target Cartwheel)
The Target Printable Coupons allow only 1 coupon per offer per guest unless otherwise noted.
2.Target Gift Card Deals
One of the great offers at Target is their Free Target Gift Card Offers. You can find the offers advertised in the weekly ad or on the shelf tags in the store.
These offers require you to make a qualifying purchase to receive your gift card. The gift card will be given to you at checkout. You can not use the gift card on the transaction that produced the gift card but you can use it on your next transaction.
3.Target Price Match
Price Match Guarantee
If you buy a qualifying item at a Target store then find the identical item for less in the following week’s Target weekly ad or within seven days at Target.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, BestBuy.com, ToysRUs.com, BabiesRUs.com or in a competitor’s local printed ad, we’ll match the price. Price match may be requested at Guest Services prior to your purchase with proof of current lower price or by bringing in your original Target store receipt and proof of the current lower price.
Price Match Guarantee: the details
- The item must be the identical item, brand name, size, weight, color, quantity and model number.
- Limit of one competitor online price match per identical item, per guest.
- Price must be valid at the time the price match is requested.
- Retail price must be shown on the website or print ad. Online prices will be validated by a Target team member.
- Competitor online items must be in stock at the time a price match is requested.
- Competitor catalogs can be matched as long as the catalog displays a current date, retail price and meets all other competitor ad match qualifications.
- If item is not available in a Target store, a rain check will not be issued to match the online price or competitor’s print ad.
- We reserve the right to verify a competitor’s advertised price and the availability of the item.
Price Match Guarantee: exclusions
Competitor exclusions:
- Alaska and Hawaii Target stores are excluded from online competitor price matching.
- Items originally purchased at Target.com (for items purchased on Target.com, click here for policy: opens in a new window.).
- Prices from other Target stores.
- Online prices from competitors not listed above.
Price exclusions:
- “Marketplace” prices: Price matched items must be sold by Walmart.com, Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, ToysRUs.com, or BabiesRUs.com; prices from third party sellers on these websites will not be honored.
- Prices that only display on a website after guests log in.
- Clearance, closeout, damaged product, used, refurbished, open packages or liquidation sales.
- Prices advertised only as a percent off or dollar off.
- Paid membership club or paid loyalty programs (e.g. prices that require a club or loyalty card that is associated with a membership fee).
- Buy one, get one if the retail price is not shown in the advertisement.
- Competitor coupon-required.
- Competitor price matches on items where Target or the competitor is offering a free gift card.
- Mail-in offers or instant rebates.
- Offers that include financing.
Ad exclusions:
- Items advertised as limited time/limited supply/limited quantity.
- Black Friday ads (including adjusting prices for previously purchased items).
- Pricing or typographical errors.
Item exclusions:
- Non-branded items (e.g., produce not marketed under a specific brand name).
- Product services (warranties, assembly, etc.).
- Target Portrait Studio, Optical and Clinic offers.
- Contract cell phone plans and devices.

4. Additional Ways to Save
Besides coupons and digital coupons, there are also rebate apps that can save you even more. Here are some of the apps available for Target:
Cartwheel by Target – Cartwheel is an app for your smartphone that allows you to add offers from hundreds of available products. Either present your smartphone with the Cartwheel barcode or your printed Cartwheel at checkout. Cartwheel deals even work when you stack them on top of coupons, sales and your REDcard discount.
Ibotta eCoupons – Ibotta is an app for your smartphone. You earn money by taking a quick poll, watch a short video or even just looking at a recipe. Each action will earn you more money once you purchase that item. Purchase the product as you normally would. Using coupons will not have any effect on your ibotta offers. If you like, you can even scan the products barcode through the Ibotta app to be sure you are purchasing the correct product. Once you have made your purchase, you simply take a photo of your receipt through the app. The amount of the coupon will be deposited into your Ibotta account.
Checkout51 is another rebate app. You make a purchase of any of the products from the list of current offers, upload your receipt to the app and receive money back into your Checkout51 account.
MobiSave is currently available for Apple based devices ONLY. Much like their predecessors, MobiSave offers you rebates on items that you can choose to purchase. Just take a picture of your itemized receipt and submit. Rebates are posted to your account normally within 24 hours. Cash out your account at any time, NO MINIMUMS to meet. Snap By Groupon is probably my favorite rebate app. The selections of products are great and you can purchase them at any store. Also, you can do the rebate multiple times which is a great feature for stocking up on products.
SavingStar is a great way to save big money on your groceries and pharmacy store purchases. They are the first and only national, fully-digital grocery eCoupon rewards service. There is nothing to clip and nothing to print. Here’s how you can use SavingStar:
- Once you are registered you will have to set up your store loyalty cards.
- Select the eCoupons you like and link them to your store loyalty cards.
- Use your loyalty card at checkout (note: The total on your receipt does not change at checkout and the savings are not printed on the receipt).
- Your money is automatically added to your SavingStar account within 2-30 days! They’ll e-mail you when your savings post.

How Can I Tell If Target Will Accept My Coupon?
Target will accept your manufacturer coupon, as long as printed limitations and requirements are met. Keep in mind:
- Manufacturer coupons can be accepted at the register even if they don’t clearly indicate who the manufacturer is, or if they indicate the name of another retailer.
- If a coupon states “Manufacturer Coupon,” it’s redeemable anywhere (including Target), even if the coupon states, “Redeemable at Kroger, Cub, etc.” (or any other retailer).
- Manufacturer coupons that are found on the Internet and printed are accepted.
- Target doesn’t accept manufacturer “rebate” coupons.
Mobile Coupons:
- Guests can receive Target Mobile Coupons by signing up for Text Alerts at Target.com/mobile or by texting COUPONS to 827-438 (TARGET).
- Message and data rates may apply. See site for full details.
- To redeem, simply show your coupon barcode to the cashier. With one simple scan, all applicable coupons are applied.
What restrictions apply to my Buy One, Get One free (BOGO) coupon?
BOGO coupons can’t be combined (i.e., you can’t use two BOGO coupons on two items and get both for free). Unless stated otherwise on the coupon, use of one BOGO coupon requires that two of the valid items are presented at checkout of which one item will be charged to you and the second item will be discounted by its full retail price. Additionally:
- A second cents-off coupon of the same type cannot be redeemed toward the purchase price of the first item.
- If a Target BOGO coupon is used, one additional manufacturer coupon may be used on the first item.
- If a manufacturer BOGO coupon is used, one additional Target coupon may be used on the first item.
Returns:
- Returns of items purchased using Manufacturer Coupons may receive coupon value returned in the form of a Target GiftCard.
Exclusions:
- Coupons are void if copied, scanned, transferred, purchased, sold, prohibited by law, or appear altered in any way.
- We can’t accept coupons from other retailers or coupons for products not carried at Target.
- Some items may not be available at all stores.
- We don’t accept expired coupons.
- We don’t accept Canadian coupons in our U.S. stores.
- We regularly monitor the Coupon Information Corporation (CIC) website for counterfeit coupons.
- We don’t accept counterfeit coupons.

Target Cartwheel Savings Program
Are you getting all the savings you possibly can at Target? In addition to Target printable coupons and Target Mobile Coupons, Target also has Cartwheel by Target offers. These offers are an engaging, choose-your-own-offer savings experience that will run through Facebook (although you do not need to be a Facebook member to join).
1.Choose Your Own Offers
Cartwheel lets guests choose their own offers and also lets Facebook friends share offers with each other. You can access Cartwheel at cartwheel.target.com on your computer, tablet or mobile device.
2. Redeem Offers In-store
Offers are redeemed in-store through a single barcode in the Cartwheel app and may be used multiple times. You can also print the barcode from your computer. Present the barcode to the cashier at checkout (either a printout or on your mobile device) just as you would any other coupon. The cashier will scan the barcode and you will save on all the Cartwheel offers in your cart.
3. Discounts Up to 50% off
Savings will vary, with most discounts between 5 and 50 percent. There are some rare times when we will even find savings up to 75% off.
4. Stack Offers
One of the best features of the Target Cartwheel offers is that you can stack different offers along with it. For instance, you can stack a manufacturer coupon along with a Target Coupon together with a Target Cartwheel offer for even more savings. And of course you can always use your Target RedCard 5% discount.
Here is how the discounts come off:
- Target Coupons are deducted
- Then Target Cartwheel offers are deducted based on the price of the item after any Target Coupons
- Then Manufacturer Coupons are deducted
- Finally, Target RedCard discount is deducted based on the price of the item after all the above discounts are deducted
5. Offers Updated Weekly
Most of the Target Cartwheel offers are updated on Sunday mornings. Also, the higher value offers will sometimes have shorter expiration dates so be sure to keep on eye on those dates.
6. Earn Badges for More Savings Offers
When you first sign up for Target Cartwheel you will automatically get 10 offers to redeem per transaction. The more badges you unlock, the more offers you’ll receive.
Here are some ways to unlock more badges:
- Interact with your friends
- Use your cartwheel offer with your redcard
- Redeem 4 offers in a single month
7. Scan Products for Savings
Use the built in scanner in the Cartwheel app to scan products while in the store to check for any cartwheel offers.
8. Offer Limits
Each Cartwheel offer may be used for up to a maximum of 4 qualifying items per offer per transaction, unless otherwise noted. There is also a limit of 1 Cartwheel Barcode per transaction and 6 cartwheel barcode transaction per day.
