Walmart Cutting Store Hours

Walmart is cutting back on the number of New Jersey and Philadelphia-area stores open around-the-clock.  Starting Monday, Walmart will close seven Garden State and three Philly-area shopping locations at midnight and reopen at 6 a.m., spokesman Brian Nick said.

Which Stores Will be Affected?

The New Jersey Walmarts that will see their hours reduced include: Teterboro, Vineland, Woodbury, Secaucus, Bayonne, Kearny and North Bergen. In the Philadelphia area,  the Columbus Boulevard, South Philadelphia, Levittown Town Center, Levittown, Bucks County stores will also reduce their hours.  They are among 40 stores nationally that are reducing hours as part of what Walmart calls a “pilot.”

Why Are Store Hours Changing?

Nick said it’s common for the chain to change hours based on shopping data.

“We are constantly reviewing our business to determine operations decisions at our stores,” Nick said in a statement. “Based on a recent review of our customers’ shopping patterns we have made the decision to adjust hours at some of our stores. This is the kind of decision we make on a store-by-store basis and will allow us the ability to reallocate resources to serve our customers during peak shopping hours.”
