Even More Ways to Save
Zero to Stockpile
You guys, this Zero to Stockpile Challenge has been hard for me. I’m not gonna lie After ten years of having a stockpile to rely on, I felt like I had no control. Do you know how hard it is to hear the words, “Cindy, we are out of dishwasher detergent”. We are out of? Like those words are not ever spoken in my house. Not until now. And I don’t like it one bit.
Last week, I focused a lot of my energy on getting items we really needed for the best prices I possibly could. You can read more about that in my Week in Review summary. After this shopping trip, I FINALLY feel more at ease. Finally!
My stockpile is starting to build some resemblance of what it once was before we donated everything. And my freezer is starting to get nice and packed. And, this momma is, once again, feeling in control of her spending.
There were some many great deals I scored at ShopRite this week. My favorite deal was the Hunt’s Diced Tomato deal. These are big cans people. And just $0.14 a can. YES! The whole chickens at Acme were a great price and I’m happy to have them in the freezer. As a matter of fact, I cooked one tonight. I shared on my Instagram stories how I spatchcocked a chicken for the first time ever. It cooked so nicely and was so easy to cut up after it’s cooked. Now to make some chicken stock with the bones.
Oh did I mention I made, for the first time, vegetable broth. I sure did! With veggie scraps I’ve been keeping for the last week in my freezer. Now I’m the proud owner of 8 pints of vegetable broth. Total cost…ZERO!
After today, we still have bunch of items that we need and some we need more of. But, I got this! I’m heading back to where we were and that makes me happy. And, I was so happy I forgot to get a picture so I had to pull pictures from a video I took. 😉
