Ham and Cheese Lunchables Recalled for Mislabelling

The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued an official press release yesterday to warn consumers about undeclared allergens in certain Lunchables brand ready-to-eat products. The press release stated that Kraft-Heinz, who owns Lunchables, recalled nearly 1,000 pounds of their product. These ready-to-eat lunch items, produced on September 21st, appeared on the shelves of various retail establishments in California and Utah.

While there is nothing wrong with the products themselves, their labels are incorrect. A total of 959 pound of Lunchables Ham and American Cheese Stackers which received Lunchables Nacho labels instead. As a result, the package does not identify the presence of wheat and soy in the product.

Here are the details regarding the recalled products:

Product: Lunchables Ham and American Cheese Stackers

Size: 3.4 oz.

“USE BY” date: 25 December 2016

Establishment Number: EST 537K

Production Time: between 9:13 and 10:00

Please note that the establishment number appears inside the USDA mark of inspection and that the production time appears stamped on the side of the plastic tray holding the food.

What to Do with Your Lunchables

Consumers who have the affected products should not consume them, but instead return them to the place of purchase for a refund. There are no reports of adverse reactions related to this mislabelling issue at this time.
