Bar-S Foods Company, a nationwide supplier of hot dogs, corn dogs, and other processed meat products announced Tuesday that it is recalling 372,684 pounds of hot dog and corn dog products due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause a serious infection, listeriosis, in vulnerable populations including the very young, very old, and immune compromised. Furthermore, Listeria monocytogenes is especially dangerous to pregnant women since it is linked to miscarriage and stillbirth.
The products, listed below, have not yet been linked to any illnesses, but the company has recalled them anyway out of an abundance of caution. According to the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) the recall is a result of a continued contamination issue at the firm rather than a positive test of any particular product.

All the affected products were packaged in the same plant and bear the establishment number EST. P-81A inside of the USDA mark of inspection. They were distributed nationwide to all 50 states to various retailers.
