Chrysler Recall 2015
The Fiat Chrysler (FCA) company is recalling about 1.4 million vehicles with 8.4 inch touchscreen radios. The recall is related to a security flaw discovered by hackers earlier this week, in which a Jeep’s computer software was manipulated remotely by two hackers and a reporter. The hackers were able to control a car’s air conditioning, radio windshield wipers and its transmission by sending commands through the Jeep’s online-connected entertainment system.
How to Find Out if Your Car is Affected
The recall includes Dodges, Jeeps, Rams and Chryslers. (A full list of years and models is below.) Owners can input their vehicle identification numbers (VINs) here to learn if their vehicles are included in the recall.
How to Get More Information
Fiat Chrysler announced the voluntarily recall. According to a release, Fiat Chrysler will provide owners with a “USB device that they may use to upgrade vehicle software, which provides additional security features independent of the network-level measures.” While Fiat Chrysler reports no injuries due to the defect, the company urges customers to upgrade their vehicle software promptly and contact the company with questions or concerns.
