This past Monday we were hosting some friends for a Monday Night Football Party – this was a last minute decision and I was trying to come up with a frugal idea on what to serve during the game to avoid the cost of ordering pizza or subs. I suddenly thought of the ground beef promotion ShopRite was having this week – it has caught my eye and I remembered I wanted to test it anyway.
Wondering what deal I’m talking about? ShopRite has advertised in the circular this week that when you buy 1 package of 80% Lean Ground Beef (1-lb or larger), get one of EACH of these items FREE:
- Hunt’s Tomatoes 14.5 oz
- Hunt’s Tomato Sauce 8 oz
- Ro-Tel Diced Tomatoes 10 oz
At first glance this doesn’t seem like anything too amazing, but I thought maybe I could find exact 1-lb packages of ground beef so that I would spend the least amount possible in order to score the 3 freebies. Because there is a limit of 4 offers, I did this deal twice (in separate transactions just to be safe) since I wanted more than 1-lb of meet but I wanted the freebies twice 🙂
I’m happy to report my store DID have small 1-lb packages of 80% ground beef and the free items were deducted at the register with no issues! I paid $3.59 for 1-lb of ground beef and 3 tomato can products – definitely a decent deal! And in case you are still wondering, Sloppy Joes, among some other yummy snacks was what we served and I’m thrilled with how cheap it was to host our little party!
Also something to keep in mind, new for the month of October, we have a Mail in Rebate Offer for a FREE package of ground beef (1 pound, any brand) when you buy THREE flavors/varieties of Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper OR Chicken Helper home cooked skillet dishes (5-serving only). In the past this rebate has been only valid with a Walmart purchase but the rebate no longer mentions any Walmart requirement!
