5 Meals for Under $30 at ShopRite
What’s for dinner this week? How many times a week do you ask yourself that question! Check out our menu and recipes for this week. We are basing our menu on the great deals that you can pick up this week at ShopRite. Everything can be purchased at ShopRite and your cost will be less than $30! Our recipes are geared for a family of four, unless otherwise noted. That’s and average of $6 per meal or $1.50 per serving. How awesome is that! Throw in some of the great moneymakers and your cost will go down some more.
You might find that you already have some of the items listed on the shopping list in your stock pile so your out of pocket cost will be even less!

California English Muffin Burger
with Frozen Vegetables and Macaroni & Cheese
Total Cost: approximately $5.93
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- English Muffins – 4
- Ground beef – 12 oz. – 16 oz.
- Egg – 1
- Havarti cheese – 4 slices (we substituted cheddar)
- Tomato – 1
- Red onion – 1
- Avocado – 1
This recipe calls for 12 oz of ground beef. That seems a little low for a family of 4 for dinner so we’ve added a 1 lb of beef to our list.

Sweet Onion Pork Medallions
with Mashed Potatoes and Salad
Total Cost: approximately $2.41
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- Boneless pork chops – 1 1/4 lbs
- Onion – 1 medium
- Honey – 1 tablespoon
- Dijon-style mustard – 1 tablespoon
- Campbell’s Sweet Onion Soup – 1 carton
This recipe takes advantage of the excellent Campbell’s money maker. Less than $2.50 to feed a family of four! Add a few more money makers and you could make this meal for free!

Three Bean Sweet Potato Chili
with Baby Carrots
Total Cost: approximately $5.94
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- Vegetable broth – 3 cups
- Black beans – 2 cups or 1 can
- Kidney beans – 2 cups or 1 can
- Pinto beans – 2 cups or 1 can
- Diced tomatoes – 28 oz can
- Onion – 1
- Corn – 1 cup
- Sweet potatoes or Yams – 2
- Garlic – 4 cloves
- Chili powder – 1 tablespoon
- Cumin – 3/4 tablespoon
- Smoked paprika – 1 teaspoon
- Oil – 2 tablespoons
This recipe uses dry beans, which have to soak overnight. We’re using the canned beans for our recipe since there’s a good deal on Progresso beans this week.

Chicken Fried Rice
with Broccoli
Total Cost: approximately $4.05
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- Rice – 3 cups prepared
- Chicken breasts, cooked – 8 oz – 12 oz.
- Frozen peas & carrots – 1 cup
- Onion – 1
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Eggs – 2
- Sesame oil
- Soy sauce
The recipe calls for 3 tablespoons of sesame oil, you can substitute vegetable or olive oil. We’ve also added a little extra chicken to our list, the recipe calls for 8 oz.

Italian Pasta Skillet
with Tossed Salad
Total Cost: approximately $5.41
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- Italian pork sausage – 1 lb
- Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic and Oregano – 14.5 oz can
- Tomato Sauce-No Salt Added – 8 oz each can
- Bow Tie pasta – 8 oz
- Baby spinach leaves – 6 oz each
- Mozzarella Cheese – 1/2 cup
- No-Stick Cooking Spray
ShopRite makes this recipe very easy with the free diced tomatoes, sauce and pasta when you buy a pound of sausage 🙂
