Tips for Shopping Online During the Holidays
With Cyber Monday approaching and the holiday shopping in full swing, here are some tips to make your online shopping a stress free experience.
1. Do Your Research: Some deals do sell out quickly. However, if you have not done your research on the product, please do not buy it until you know what you are buying. Consumer Reports is a great place to search for information on different products. If you are interested in an electronics products, then you might find some good information at CNET.com Coupon blogs or deal sites are not experts in all items. They simply find the best deals and post them. It is your responsibility as a consumer to determine if the item you are purchasing is worth the price. It’s better to skip a deal then to be sorry you bought something after the fact.
2. Check the sites reputation: Only buy from sites that you trust, have done business with before or know of people that have done business with the company/site. If you are unsure of their reputation, then please pass on the deal. You can check the background information of a website by heading here. If the website is very new, then I would pass on the deal. You can also use this when you are requesting free samples or coupons.
3. Be patient. Websites with great deals, get a ton of traffic and sometimes can not handle the traffic. The word “scam” seems to be the word that is used most often this year when buyers have the slightest feeling that something is wrong. If you can not get on a website, it might just be that the site can not handle the traffic.
4. Customer Service: If you have a problem with a company that you have made a purchase from, you need to address that problem with the company. Leaving negative comments on the blogs or on facebook walls will not help to resolve the issue. If you need assistance, I am happy to help in any way that I can.
