Reader Shopping Trip: The 12 Days Of Couponing – ShopRite Style

So I get this reader shopping trip entry from reader Christine and I just cracked up.  How clever and funny.  And, so appropriate for the holidays.  Here is what Christine said:

So, last night a friend of mine and I went to Shop Rite to take advantage of the great deals thanks to Holiday Cash Rewards.  When I got home and looked at my loot, I realized it looked a whole lot like a verse from the 12 days of Christmas and as such, I have written it that way. (I forgot to take a pic though. I’m bummed I forgot!)

So, here is Christines “12 Days of Couponing” ShopRite style.

On the twelfth day of coupon shopping , I received for “free”:

Bought:
Twelve bottles of shampoo (technically 20-see below)
Eleven bags of rice
Ten packages of batteries
Nine finish gelpacs soaps
Eight bags of toblerone candies (actually I have 16, but it didn’t fit the song haha)
Seven (plus two) bottles of laundry detergent/softener
Six cans of condensed milk
Five body washes
Four pounds dunks coffee
Three boxes of tea
Two olive oils
And a soda because I was parched from all of the shopping

Here are the coupons I used and of course it was over more than one transaction:

Coupons used:
Twelve bottles of shampoo used: Pantene BOGO and Herbal essence/clairol $2/1-1st trans paid $7.96 and rec’d $10 cat. Herbal essence were free thanks to Clairol coupon. Trans 2 pantene bogo again but used the previously earned $10 cat and got another $10 cat

Eleven bags of rice used: Carolina rice $1/1

Ten packages of batteries used: Duracel $1.50/1 (did this in 3 transactions. Trans 1 paid 8.98 for 2 packs, trans 2 and 3 paid tax for 4 packs and used the previously earned cats and earned more.)

Nine finish gelpacs soaps used: finish printable .75/1 (trans 1 pd 5.92 for 4 and trans 2 paid 7.40 as I didn’t realize I had grabbed 5. The cashier even manually doubled the coupon. I didn’t realize…)

Eight bags of toblerone candies: used $1/2 (actually I have 16, but it didnt fit the song haha) trans 1 and 2 paid $16

Seven (plus two) bottles of laundry detergent/softener used: the current P&G coupons for Downy and Tide (trans 1 bought 4 tide to go and paid 6. Along with the 2 duracel, I got the cat. Trans 2a (since I had to seperate from the duracel trans as they are part of the same category) bought 3 downy ultra paid 11.97 and and bought 2 tide to go paid $3.

Six cans of condensed milk used: $1/2 (paid 8.94)

Five body washes used: P&G Ivory coupon (paid 12.45-this time I knew I had the 5th coupon, but thought I had not given it to them and apparently I did…)

Four pounds dunks coffee used: $2/2 (trans 1 and 2 paid 11.98)

Three boxes of tea used: .60/1 paid 2.7 (and not cat because I didnt buy enough in the group, but I needed tea)

Two olive oils-used $1/1 (trans 1 and 2 paid 5.98)

And a soda because I was parched from all of the shopping (paid 1.99 -used part of previously earned cat from shampoo)

Received:
(2) $10 Cats for shampoo
(2) $20 cats for Toblerone candies
(2) $10 Cats for Dunks coffee
(1) $10 Cat for Pompeian oil
(1) $10 Cat for the eagle condensed milk
(2) $10 Cat for Finish
(5) $20 Cat for P&G

I used some of the week 1 cats/$cat for shampoo for the batteries as well bringing the totals down a bit overall.

Total paid after coupons and cats used 160.85, but then I also used previously earned Visa cards.

Total spent: $107.79 and received/have left: $167.50 in CATS!! 🙂 Love this kind of Shop Rite shopping!
