5 Meals for Under $30 at Walmart
You might find that you already have some of the items listed on the shopping list in your stock pile so your out of pocket cost will be even less! Just so you know, some prices may vary at your local Walmart.

Slow Cooker Indian Chicken Stew
with Spinach and Rice
Total Cost: approximately $5.94
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- Boneless chicken – 1 lb.
- Onion – 1 small
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Curry powder – 2 1/2 teaspoons
- Ground ginger – 1 teaspoon
- Garbanzo beans (chickpeas) – 15 oz. can
- Diced tomatoes – 14.5 oz. can
- Chicken broth – 1/2 cup
- Bay leaf – 1
- Lime juice – 1 tablespoon
- Fresh spinach – 4 – 5 oz.
The original recipe is for 8 servings, so we cut it in half. Also it calls for boneless thighs, but too keep our meal in our budget, I added boneless breast instead. Walmart sells boneless thighs for $0.53 more per lb. compared to the breasts. If you want to stick with the thighs, your meal will cost a little more.

Tilapia Oreganata
with Mashed Potatoes, Baby Carrots and Kale
Total Cost: approximately $5.74
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- Tilapia filets – 1 lb.
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Zest of one lemon
- Oregano – 1 tsp.
- Olive oil – 1 tbsp.
- Seasoned whole wheat bread crumbs – 2 tbsp.

Pasta With Turkey and Broccoli
with Tossed Salad
Total Cost: approximately $5.85
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- Ground Turkey – 1 lb.
- Broccoli florets – 2 cups
- Pasta 12 oz.
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Olive Oil – 3 tablespoons
- Fennel Seeds – 1 teaspoon
- Crushed Red Pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
This recipe calls orecchiette which is a pasta that is not available in many stores. We added penne to our list but you can use any type of pasta.

Smoked Sausage Fried Rice
with Sliced Tomatoes
Total Cost: approximately $5.57
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- Beef Smoked Sausage – 1 package
- Eggs – 2
- Vegetable oil – 2 tablespoons
- Rice – 3 cups cooked
- Broccoli florets – 1 cup *
- Carrots – 1 cup *
- Red bell pepper – 1 *
- Onion -1
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Soy sauce – 3 tablespoons
* We have a bag of frozen stir fry vegetables on our list which should work well with this recipe!

Crispy Baked Chicken Leg Quarters
with Potatoes, Baby Carrots and Tossed Salad
Total Cost: approximately $5.53
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- Chicken Leg Quarters – 4
- Soy Sauce – 1/2 cup
- Garlic Powder – 1 teaspoon
- Seasoning salt *
- Dill – 1 teaspoon
* This recipe calls for seasoning salt but it may be too salty in addition to the soy sauce. Try adding fresh or ground ginger instead.
