Today is my birthday…the BIG 55. It is my first year without my significant other–not to be bummed but I guess I am a little today. I did treat myself to Dunkin Donuts this morning–it puts a smile on my face. I have my nephew and my mom and my great neice and my best friend all in the next few days. Happy Birthday! September babies are the best! My birthday is the 20th of September and my twins is the 21st! We have three different favored cakes, vanilla, chocolate and red velvet. Our tradition is we sing happy birthday before school and eat cake for breakfast. Hopefully we will be able to keep up this tradition for many years to come!

The birthday story that I’ll never forget is the time that my wonderful boyfriend surprised me with the ultimate gift: he flew my best friend (who at the time was in North Carolina) to my home in MA without me having the slightest idea! She had played along too, telling me she was sending me a package on a specific date and time to insure I’d be home. When the doorbell rang and I opened the door I nearly collapsed! I was so overwhelmed with joy I couldn’t stop crying for at least 5 minutes. And to think, I had been so mad at him a few weeks prior when he was late for dinner (the night he booked her tickets!)

Funny thing is that I stop at DD every morning for a wheat bagel toasted with cream cheese. So, I had a birthday weekend, and a list of 31 things to do for my 31st birthday on the 31st. We did the whole list and it was awesome.

I’m not 100% sure what I should put here, but I would like to tell you that at 45, I’ve been struggling with the blues. I’m not a cougar, but it kind of depresses me that young guys don’t look at me anymore. Not that I would actually DO anything with them, but it sucks that they don’t even look. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth about how I feel. On the other hand, I think back on all the emotional ups and downs I had in my teens, and even in my twenties and thirties. I can honestly say I am glad those days are long behind me. I suppose what I’m trying to get across is that, as well as everything else in life, it’s all in the way we choose to view it. And if you choose to, view this…using diaper rash cream is a very effective, low-cost way to reduce the effects of aging. All I’m saying is, just because we’re middled aged, do we have to look it?!

Happy Birthday! My bday is 10/9 and starting it with a DD ice coffee would be ideal! I’m from Illinois where DD are on every corner, now i live in San Antonio and there is only 2 in the entire city!!! With a gift card those 30 min drives wouldn’t seem so silly but rather practicle 🙂
